(Updated August 1, 2019)
St. Catherine of Siena is open to all children regardless of religion, race, sex, color, nationality, or ethnic origin. All rights, privileges, programs, and activities are available to all of our students. Students are eligible for Pre-Kindergarten Three if they are three years old by AUGUST 31. Students are eligible for Pre-Kindergarten Four if they are four years old by SEPTEMBER 30. Priority will be given to Catholic children.
Registration does not guarantee placement in the school if the school is not able to serve the needs of the student. There is an Individual Needs Committee (INC) to consider student academic concerns as recommended.
Pre-K3 = 15 to 19
Pre-K4 = 19 to 23
Kindergarten = 19 to 23
1st thru 7th grade = 25 to 27
St. Catherine of Siena will accept students according to the following categories:
***The students and parents may be required to have an interview with the administration of the school.
St. Catherine of Siena Parish’s territorial boundaries are Interstate 10 (to the North), West William David Parkway/Farnham Place (to the East), Airline Highway (to the South) and Causeway Boulevard (to the West). Anyone who is registered and living inside of these boundaries is considered a territorial parishioner. Anyone who is registered and living outside of this area is considered an out-of-parish parishioner.
St. Catherine of Siena Parish is responsible for the spiritual and formational needs of its specific territory. The school was primarily established to serve the parishioners in our territorial boundary as a ministry of the parish. Therefore, preference is given to territorial parishioners.
To be considered active involves three components: registered, involved, and contributing.
To be considered a registered, you must turn in a completed parish registration form to the parish office. Registration forms are available online at www.scschurch.com (click on Resources and Online Downloads). Registration forms are also available on the tables in the narthex of the Church under the TV monitors. When applying for the school, to be considered a registered parishioner, you must be registered for at least one year prior to the school registration deadline unless you live in the territorial boundaries.
To be considered an involved parishioner, you must regularly attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days at St. Catherine of Siena, even if you live outside of the territorial boundaries. You should be involved in the community life at St. Catherine and participate in at least one parish ministry, school ministry, or parish-wide events. To learn about the different parish ministries, visit our parish website www.scschurch.com and click on ministries.
To be considered a contributing parishioner, you are to financially support St. Catherine of Siena Church. The minimum donation to be considered a contributing parishioner is $500 for one student or $700 for two or more. These minimums are set by the Archdiocese. Contributions must be made before December 31 of the previous year to be considered “contributing". For example, to be considered contributing when it comes to the 2021 - 2022 school year, a family must have met the minimums during 2020. While the above amounts are the minimum, the ideal is to practice true stewardship of time, talent and treasure.
This minimum donation is required because the Church parish subsidizes the tuition for parishioners attending the school in the amount of $350 per student. Non-contributing parishioners have an additional $350 fee added to their tuition since their tuition is not subsidized by the parish.
Contributions can only be credited to the person who is making the contribution. For example, a grandparent cannot make a contribution on behalf of a grandchild applying for school.
Applications for admission to SCS for the upcoming school year will be accepted beginning on the Monday following Thanksgiving of the current year. Turning your application in early does not increase your chances of being accepted. The above criteria determines the order of acceptance, not the date of turning your application.
