For those that are new to Intramurals, the Intramural Program was created to give our Middle School students the opportunity to compete competitively outside of PE class and be a part of a team effort. This also gives our students more playing time in an organized sports atmospshere and allows them to improve on their skills in a particular sport. We keep the team numbers to a minimum so that every member on the team gets to play the majority or all of each game they participate in. In order for this to work, all students that sign up are expected to commit to playing in every game that there team plays in, unless they are sick from school. The Intramurals Program is not a day-to-day sign up. All students that sign up are committing to helping their team for the entirety of the season. The schedules and team rosters will be posted for each intramural season outside the gym on the bulletin board and will be announced on the daily morning announcements.
Another aspect of the Intramural Program is that students do not have to play every sport. For instance, if your child wishes to play Flag Football Intramurals, but not Basketball Intramurals, he/she does not have to do so. When you sign up for Intramurals online, you are only signing up for that individual sport.
Lastly, most of our intramural sports are gender divided, however, it is based on the number of boy and girl students that sign up. For instance, last year, every sport was gender divided with the exception of Soccer Intramurals. Because we only had a select number of students sign up for Soccer Intramurals, we decided to have one Co-Ed league. Therefore, for every sport, we will evaluate the number of students that are signed up when sign-ups close, and decide from there how to divide up the students.
