The middle school program at St. Catherine of Siena provides a wide array of student-centered courses that foster the development of the 21st Century skills necessary to thrive in today's society. Critical thinking, collaboration, communication, initiative, and leadership are among these skills that educators instill in their students on a daily baiss. A well-rounded education is of the utmost importance; students will grow spiritually, academically, and emotionally throughout these formative middle school years.
Honors Program: Beginning in sixth grade, students have the option to apply for the Honors Program. Based on an entrance exam developed by our educators, ACT Aspire Scores, and past performance, interested students will be invited to join the program. Students follow an honors ELA and Mathematics curriculum, as well as move at a faster pace in other classes. All Honors students take Latin as their language.
Chromebooks: Our middle school program is one-to-one; each student has a Chromebook that is implemented throughout instruction daily. Teachers communicate assignments, assessment dates, and important classroom announcements through Google Classroom, which is updated daily.
Enrichment: Once per week, students attend enrichment classes. These classes, which include Christian Leadership Club, STEM, Math meets Art, Music Appreciation, and Exercise, give the students an opportunity to participate in something that interests them outside of their normal academic classes. Each semester, students fill out a form with their top choices for enrichment; classes are chosen from these lists, with first choice given to seventh graders.
