Dear SCS School Families,
We are excited to share that our Upper Elementary School Assistant Principal, Mr. Richard Hill, has been named the Principal of St. Philip Neri in Metairie for the 2019 - 2020 school year. While Mr. Hill leaving St. Catherine will be a huge loss for our school, we are excited for him as he takes this next step in his ministry in Catholic education!
Throughout his 14 years at St. Catherine of Siena, Mr. Hill has served in a number of different capacities including a Latin and Social Studies teacher, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal. In all of these roles, Mr. Hill has proven that he is a very hard-working, creative, and dedicated educator. He is a collaborative, forward thinking leader. Mr. Hill is blessed to be both a master of detail while also being capable of implementing his plan. He is a team player who is willing to go above and beyond what is expected in order to achieve excellence. We are grateful for Mr. Hill’s many years of selfless service at SCS. We wish him God’s blessing as he assumes his role as the principal of St. Philip Neri.
Mr. Hill will remain at St. Catherine of Siena until he begins his new position on July 1. He will serve as our interim principal when Mrs. Kilroy begins her maternity leave on April 18. We will appropriately thank Mr. Hill for his service later in the school year.
In order to prepare for next school year, we will begin an open search immediately to hire an assistant principal. The job posting is located on our school website, the Office of Catholic School’s website, as well as our parish website. If you know anyone who is interested in the position and who meets the qualifications, please direct them to Mrs. Kilroy at [email protected].
Congratulations to Mr. Hill on this exciting news! We are happy for you and very proud of you. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he looks forward to his new ministry as a Principal.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Timothy Hedrick, Pastor
Kimberlie Kilroy, Principal
St. Catherine Community,
I would like to inform you all that I have accepted the Principal position at St. Philip Neri Catholic School and will begin to serve there on July 1 of this year.
I am excited for the opportunity to lead a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of New Orleans- it has been a dream and a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. I look forward to the challenges this position will inevitably bring, and relish the chance to utilize my knowledge and experience in ways I have not before.
My feelings of excitement are tempered, however. I am heavy-hearted about leaving St. Catherine of Siena School. Over the last 14 years, this place has become a home for me and for my family.
My time at SCS has changed me as an educator, as a Catholic Christian, and as a man. I have been blessed to work with many dedicated educators who are at the top of our field. In addition, I have been honored to serve with excellent administrators at both the school and the parish. I thank them all for everything they have taught me and for the experiences we have shared. I wish to thank Fr. Tim and Mrs. Kilroy for the trust and faith they given me during their administration of our parish and school. I am grateful for the support and care they have provided me during the process of seeking out a principal position.
Most importantly, I want to show deep appreciation for the hundreds of students I’ve met, taught, and grown to admire while at St. Catherine. This school is built upon a solid bedrock of community with students at its center. The young people entrusted to our care each day are the true treasure of SCS; I value them and I know that you all do as well.
Both personally and professionally I have enjoyed being at SCS. I have built many lasting relationships. I have always sought to respect and honor the history and tradition of this school in my words and actions. I have done my best to give my all each day that I have come to this campus. I hope that I have not let you down.
I wish this parish and this school continued success. The Catholic faith is alive and well here, and is actualized through everyone who makes up this wonderful community. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. Please pray that I may have wisdom and guidance as I begin my next adventure.
In Christ,
Richard Hill
Assistant Principal
